Uintah County is open for business! We have tremendous natural resources which in turn provide many well-paying jobs within our local community.
In addition to our treasure chest of natural resources, Uintah County provides many opportunities for all types of businesses to flourish because of its business-friendly atmosphere and its commitment to economic expansion and business retention. The local government has an open-door policy and encourages two-way communication with the business community.
Uintah County continually evaluates and plans upgrades to infrastructure as evidenced by a recent upgrade to the regional airport which will now allow small regional jets to land here. New businesses can also take advantage of a county wide Enterprise Zone Tax Credit which offers substantial tax credits for businesses in a variety of industries, including manufacturing and service. Depending on the size of the business, it can be very lucrative. The program was originally offered in only designated areas in Uintah County, but now includes the entire county and continues through December 31, 2013.
Uintah County supports policies that promote multiple uses of public lands which provide economic stability for our area as well as opportunities for many different kinds of recreation including, but not limited to, hunting, fishing, biking, and hiking. Our spectacular mountains, blue ribbon fisheries, and breathtaking desert landscapes make Uintah County the right place to live work and play!
One of the great assets to the residents of Uintah County is the area’s thriving education system. Higher education has had a strong presence in the area for many years, reflecting a statewide commitment to educate its residents. Uintah County believes in this vision and supports two higher education institutions: Uintah Basin Applied Technology College and Utah State University. Although each entity has a distinct mission, both have found that cooperation and collaboration bring tremendous strength and growth.
